Chocolate-Peanut Butter Puppy Chow

  • Author: Misfits Market

  • 6 cups of mixed cereal
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½  teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • ¾ cup roasted, salted peanuts
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks

  1. Add cereal to a large bowl. Add chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter to a medium bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, mixing in between, until melted. Add salt and vanilla extract to chocolate mixture, stir to combine.
  2. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and toss to evenly coat. Let chocolate set and come to room temperature, about 10 minutes.
  3. Sift 1 cup powdered sugar, ½ cup at a time, over the cereal mixture then toss to coat. Repeat with the other ½ cup of powdered sugar, then transfer puppy chow to a parchment-lined baking sheet to set for 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Sift the remaining ¼ cup of powdered sugar over the puppy chow, toss to coat, then mix in peanut and pretzels before serving.
