Hi Hallie,

Thank you for your message. We have triple checked with our growers and suppliers and our onions have never been sourced from the supplier that the FDA has traced to the developing Salmonella outbreak. Per the FDA’s website, “FDA’s traceback investigation is ongoing but has identified Thomson International, Inc. of Bakersfield, CA as a likely source of potentially contaminated red onions.” It’s our understanding that Thomson International deals only with conventional produce, so it’s not a company that we would have any working relationship with. We hope this sets your mind at ease.

We saw a recall on onions and wanted to make sure the onions we received in our box are safe. Do they come from the affected farm or area?

Thank you

Hello Misfits,

Did you test the onions for Salmonella or not? Are you certain they are safe?
Thank you

Is there anyway I cannot get some items that we have tried and don’t like? We dislike eggplant, and all squash except acorn.

Also this last box had a beautiful slim English cucumber but half of it was rotten. Also the little cantaloupe was bad. My box before had green onions that the tops were all slime. The beets have been wonderful. Peaches were pathetic. I live in the south and it has been very hot and humid so wondering if that has anything to do with it. One more time

Hi Ann, we are currently in our beta test of customization where you’ll be able to pick and choose the types of fruits and veggies that arrive in your box. That means no more beets if you don’t want them! Follow us on social media (@MisfitsMarket), sign up for our newsletter, and follow the blog here for updates on when we can roll out customization for all. Thank you!

As for the quality of your produce that is definitely not up to our standards. Please fill out a ticket with our customer success team here: https://misfitsmarket.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and they’ll do their best to make this right.

Hi misfits,
I love the boxes but I was wondering how to have a certain vegetable out that I seem to get alot and I feel like it’s going to waste. My family and I don’t eat beets and I wish they went to someone who uses them and I could get something else instead like more potatoes or something.. Lol.

My last order I received had damaged produce.
Eggplant and zucchini .
And I Ofer as add on large garlic and received tiny ones. I emailed regarding this and have not received a response

The help center link you give is gone. I never ordered from you, am a new widow trying to live on half the income now, and have a farm and grow my own. I’ve written several times telling you I never ordered, cannot afford your prices, never ordered and telling you to stop and pick up and refund my credit card, which I don’t know how you got. But you ignored me and sent another box. Both still unopened. Please stop. Please refund. Why would a farm order vegetables from you? I sell my own!

Hi Sandra, oh no! We’re so sorry to hear you were not expecting an order, and we apologize if there was any confusion with how our service works. We checked and we can confirm that our customer success team has since responded to your request on 8/13. If you did not see their response in your email inbox, please be sure to check your spam, junk, or “all mail” folders as well. I keep getting green that only last a day after I get my box and my zucchini and cucumbers had mold. My last to box’s have been horrible and first box my extra items purchased weren’t in the box so I might have to skip this week cause I’m a scared I’m going to get another horrible box

Hi Mari, you can easily change your subscription preferences by going to your Account Page and scrolling to Manage Subscription. Then, you can easily switch the type of box, how frequent your box arrives, or skip a week altogether! You can also pause your subscription completely here. We only ship weekly or bi-weekly, so your best option would be to sign up for a weekly subscription and skip every two weeks. Or, you can cancel by scrolling to the bottom of this Manage Subscription Page.

If you have any additional questions, please fill out a ticket with our customer success team here: https://misfitsmarket.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thank you!

If I sign up how long is my membership required. Can I cancel immediately if I find I don’t like something about the product or billing or what have you.

Hi Nancy, great question! When you sign up you are automatically enrolled into weekly or bi-weekly pay periods. However, you can easily change your subscription preferences by going to your Account Page and scrolling to Manage Subscription. I give up. It’s been weeks. Your message to me has been we have your order. You’ve sent me nothing. I bet you never will

I see the multiple statements that y’all are still beta testing the option of customers being able to select products of THE WANT & THE WANT NOTS of the fruits & veggies in the boxes…PLEASE PLEASE give us an idea of when this will happen! Happy even if you just say THIS year or NEXT year!!!!!???? Prefer an estimated date tho…???? thanks…will subscribe when this is part of the program..due to health reasons I must be able to have this available to use!

Hi Alexis, we’re glad to hear that you’re excited about our customization program! As we are still in beta testing, we realistically cannot give out an expected date for when this will roll out to everyone, but it is on the type of our priority list! We will be sure to email all customers and post to our social accounts once it’s available for all. We’re sorry we can’t be more specific with a date!

i’d love to try this but am waiting till it is customizable as i have a BET1 food allergy- basically all fruits that have a center pit (apples, peaches, pears) and strongly flavored vevetables like hot peppers or cilatro. i am open to everything i am not allergic to, but unfortunately that is a very specific list. any word on when selection will be an option?

I am still waiting for an answer—————————-I do not know what to do with most of the food I received: because I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS!! Most of it was not labeled. I asked you befoee–I didn;’t get n answer–and my FRESH food is rapidly becoming UNfresh. PLEASE help.

Hi Donna! We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble identifying your produce! If you’re ever unsure, we suggest checking the What’s In Your Box Page here: https://www.misfitsmarket.com/pages/whats-in-your-box/

It updates weekly depending on the types of produce we ship. Because each box differs based on what we’re able to rescue, we currently cannot include a list in your box but we are hoping to change that one day!

If you’re still struggling to identify a piece of food, please fill out a ticket with our customer success team here: https://misfitsmarket.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and they’ll do their best to identify it for you. Thanks!

Are any of your products affected by the recall of citrus and potatoes from Freshouse II, LLC of Salisbury, NC?

My family members who live in different places all enjoy receiving your boxes. We like to call each other and compare recipes using what we have received. Thank you for the entertainment, as well as the food!

Hi Sunny, Thank you for your message! We triple checked with our procurement team and, while we have sourced from this grower in the past, we last purchased from them well before the recalled products were shipped. So there is no risk that any items subject to this recall were included in our boxes. We hope this sets your mind at ease.

Hello,
I saw there was a recall on peaches (94401). I received three of these peaches in my box today (8/28/20). Are they safe to eat or are they part of the recall?

Thank You,
Erica

Hi Erica. Thanks for reaching out! Some peaches we rescued did in fact come from Prima Wawona but are not affected by the FDA’s recent recall. The recall affects peaches distributed and sold between June 1 and August 3. The peaches that you received were purchased from Prima Wawona on August 15. We hope that puts your mind at ease but please don’t hesitate to reach out with any more questions. Thanks!
