How Pistakio Sold Out in Four Days

Pistakio came to Misfits Market thinking their small-batch inventory might last a month.

It sold out in four days.

That kind of response doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a great product meets the right community.

Pistakio is made by Nico and Fran, two self-described pistachio fanatics who moved from Italy and were disappointed by what they found on U.S. shelves. Nothing tasted like real pistachios. So they did what passionate food people do best: they made it themselves.

The result is a pistachio spread that’s creamy, rich, and unapologetically pistachio-forward. Slightly salty, a little sweet, and deeply satisfying. It’s made with sustainably sourced pistachios from California’s Central Valley, then ground smooth and jarred in Portland. Simple ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and a whole lot of care in every jar.

And yes, you can absolutely eat it straight off the spoon.

But people have been getting creative. Drizzled over croissants. Swirled into ice cream. Spread onto cookies. One of our favorite uses? Blended with oat milk, poured over ice, and topped with matcha for a pistachio matcha latte.

When Pistakio launched on Misfits Market, the response was immediate. Our community showed up in a big way—curious, enthusiastic, and ready to support a small brand doing things the right way. What was supposed to be a slow, steady rollout turned into a full sell-through in just a few days.

Moments like this are exactly why Misfits Market exists.

We’re proud to work with emerging brands like Pistakio and help introduce their products to a national audience of values-driven shoppers. Creating momentum for small makers who are building a better, more thoughtful food system is at the heart of what we do.

Seeing our partners win never gets old. And if this sell-out was any indication, Pistakio is just getting started.

We can’t wait for what’s next!
