This Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating all of the ways, big and small, that we can give back to those in our community most in need. Since 2021, we’ve been able to donate more than 2 million meals* alongside Feeding America with the support of our skipped box donation program to fight hunger and food insecurity.
We’re so proud of the work we’ve done to create a more affordable, accessible and sustainable food system, and we’re grateful for our community who shares in our mission. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Looking to get involved in giving this year? Here are some ideas to get you started.
If you can give money
These organizations are tackling food insecurity from a local all the way to a global scale:
- Feeding America
- Sharing Excess
- City Harvest
- Rethink Food
- Buddy System MIA
- The Harvest Project
- The Farmlink Project
- World Central Kitchen
If you can give food
It’s easy to organize a food drive: just ask your local food pantries, schools, and community centers what kinds of food they need most, or stock up your local community fridge with healthy and easy-to-grab foods.
Feeding America also has a great guide to help you get started.
If you can give time
Volunteering your time is an incredible way to connect with your community. Get in touch with your local food bank to see how you can help create access to fresh food for those in need.
If you can give your voice
Advocacy is an important way to speak up for a better food system for all. Sign the petition to support the bipartisan Food Donation Improvement Act, which will make it easier for companies like Misfits Market to donate fresh food. Then, call your Congresspeople and urge them to cosponsor the legislation. They want to see that their constituents care about this bill—so let’s get loud!
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
