What Types of Mystery Squash You Might Find

Orangetti Squash
A bright yellow, spaghetti-style squash with a mildly sweet flavor. Its stringy, tender flesh is perfect for twirling like pasta or tossing with herbs, butter, and parmesan for an easy dinner.
Blue Ballet Squash
A smaller variety with a beautiful blue-gray exterior and vibrant orange flesh. The texture is creamy and velvety with a subtle nuttiness—excellent for roasting or blending into soups.
Kabocha Squash
Deep green on the outside and rich orange inside, kabocha is ultra-dense, creamy, and naturally sweet. It’s perfect for silky soups, tempura, or roasting until caramelized.
Red Kuri Squash
Known for its vivid red-orange skin and chestnut-like flavor, Red kuri has a smooth, tender texture that shines in curries, purees, and roasted veggie sides. Bonus: the skin is edible when cooked.
Acorn Squash
Mild, slightly sweet, and incredibly versatile. Great for stuffing, slicing, roasting, or topping with brown sugar and butter for a cozy classic.
Butternut Squash
The fall all-star. Smooth, sweet, and easy to work with—ideal for soups, mashes, roasted cubes, and creamy pasta sauces.
