Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties:
- 1 package Adda Veggie Protein Mix Original Blend
- 2 heads broccoli
- 1 tbsp cooking oil (plus 1 tbsp more if not grilling)
Toppings:
- 4 slices American cheese (or substitute vegan cheese)
- ½ onion, thinly sliced (plus 1/4 more for the secret sauce)
- 4 leaves butter lettuce
- 4 slices beefsteak tomato
- 4 kaiser rolls (or burger buns)
Secret Sauce:
- ¼ cup mayonnaise (or vegan mayo)
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- ¼ onion
- 1 tablespoon pickle relish or 1 sweet pickle, minced
Instructions
- For the secret sauce: Mince onion (hot tip: you can use the parts of the onion that don’t slice into neat burger rings). Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a small bowl and store in refrigerator.
- For the burgers on the grill: Prepare a full package of Adda Veggie using broccoli. Handshape into 4 burger-sized patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook burger for 2-3 minutes each side until golden brown and crisp. Transfer to a plate.
- Meanwhile, heat up the grill to medium heat (approx. 350° F).
- Cut the onion into ¼-inch thick slices. Grill the sliced onions until lightly softened and grill-marked on both sides.
- Place cooked Adda Veggie broccoli burgers onto the grill. Once the bottom of each patty has grill marks, flip and place American cheese slice on top of each burger. Cover the grill to melt the cheese and remove the patties from the grill when the cheese is melted.
- For the burgers on the stove: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cut the onion into ¼-inch thick slices. Add the onion and cook until soft, translucent, and a little brown. Skip this step if you prefer raw onions in your burger.
